Preston & Preston enjoy pivotal role in the growth of “dark stores”

Last-mile grocery delivery service Getir continues to disrupt the ad hoc grocery market, providing consumers with an incredibly convenient way to get food, drink and grocery items quickly.

Getir promises “instant delivery”, usually within 15 minutes of ordering through the App. The company has been active in Turkey since 2015 and has only recently set foot in the UK and other European countries.

It has gained momentum in London during the last year, seeking several “dark store” sites across the capital and in a handful of other UK cities.

At Preston & Preston, we’re very excited to be supporting this new model as it expands, having rented one of our sheds in Tolworth to the fast-growing company.

Are there any other businesses you’d expect to be looking for similar “dark” spaces, in addition to those in grocery delivery? We’ve love to hear your opinion, so do feel free to send us a message to info@prestonandpreston.co.uk.

Formed in 2016, Preston & Preston Capital is a British property investment firm focused on long term ownership, leasing and active management of mixed-use, commercial and light industrial properties. We are constantly seeking new assets to develop and add to our growing high-yield portfolio.
